Chen Style Tai Chi Centre.

Instructor Alda Gomez

Alda Gomez is from Spain, she teaches in Dublin. She became interested in tai chi during her first visit to China. She has attended regular weekly classes and numerous weekend workshops over the years. She has been practising tai chi and qi gong for 5 years: Wu Style, Old Yang Style, Chen Style, Hun Yuan Qi Gong, Wu Qin Xi.

Alda Gomez started her tai chi experience with Jo McLoughlin and Terry Christie from Hu Ming Yue International Tai Ji Association. She learnt the simplified 24 movement Yang style, as well as some tai chi core principles. Afterwards, she trained on a regular basis with Jan Golden of Tai Chi Ireland, who taught her that if she was persistent, she would reap the benefits of her pain and her sweat. She also learnt more tai chi principles, some tai chi effects on the human body, and the occasional joke. She trained in the Wu style (short form), old Yang style, and Hun Yuan Qi Gong. Alda also attended workshops on push hands (Tui Shou), tai chi & meditation, pulsing & dissolving practices, and other qi gong movements, including marriage of heaven & earth. In 2009-2010, she attended the tai chi teacher training organised by Jan Golden’s Tai Chi Instructors Academy and was awarded a tai chi instructor accreditation to teach the wu style short form, created by Bruce Frantzis. Alda also attended other workshops of invited guests organised by Tai Chi Ireland. She was grateful for the clear explanations of Chris Chappel of Real Taoism, based in London, about tai chi martial applications and technique. She experienced Ba Gua for the first time with Master Frank Allen from Wu Tang PCA in New York, whose tai chi stories made the workshops all the more lively and enjoyable. And she was especially inspired by Master Tina Chunna Zhang from Earth Gi Gong for Women and Northern Wu Style Tai Ji, also based in New York. Alda was mesmerised by Tina’s graceful movements and soft spoken teaching abilities.

More recently, Alda trained in the 11 movement short form Chen style tai chi, silk reeling qi gong, qi gong breathing and five animals qi gong (wu qin xi) with Master Liming Yue of the Tai Chi Centre in Manchester in the UK. She received a level one tai chi instructors accreditation by Master Liming Yue to teach the basis of the chen style in Dublin. The 11 movement short form was created by Master Liming Yue and it is especially designed for beginners. Alda is training hard in the hope to upgrade her tai chi instructor accreditation to a higher level soon. Master Liming Yue’s explanations are very clear. It is a pleasure to attend his workshops. Alda is an experienced trainer who will endeavour to make you love this ancient art which has already conquered her heart. “When I saw Chinese people practising at 7am in a park, I knew I had to try it. I started out of curiosity and I discovered a new world of healthy and gentle movements which improved my well-being in many areas. Tai chi is not easy but it is worth every minute. I will no doubt go and train with the masters in China soon.” says Alda.
